03:29The Academic Model Providing Access to Health Care Plus (AMPATHPlus) is a program under the auspices of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) and Moi University whose aim is to provide sustainable efforts in access to health care.
AMPATH supports the Ministry of Health in eight (8) Counties of western Kenya Region, with a catchment population of an estimated 3.5 million people.
Applications are invited from qualified candidates for the above vacant position in AMPATHPlus.
The successful candidate will report to the Chief of Party.
The candidate must have good understanding of Orphaned & Vulnerable Children (OVC) Programs.
Be able to provide technical direction to project implementation and ensure the project meets stated goals, expected results and reporting requirements.
The candidate will take technical leadership role in coordination with GOK, local community organizations and other partners.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Facilitate implementation of Orphaned and Vulnerable Children care and support work plans and budgets.
- Monitor performance indicators across the 8 counties of the Program, prepare donor reports, identify staff capacity gaps, facilitate mentorship forums, play an advisory role for technical gaps and advisor to senior management, ensure quality and compliance.
- Develop an integrated Management and Information System for tracking key OVC care project indicators and optimized its use as a community based information system.
- Organize team support for the field (trainings, technical assistance visits, etc.) by liaising with Counties and keep track of OVC activities.
- Assist in budget tracking and financial reporting for OVC activities and maintain administrative and financial tracking systems.
- Spearhead the development of strategies and implementation plan for successful transition of older OVC aimed at building their capacity to be independent through integration with several economic interventions that included linkage to vocational training, entrepreneurship skills, linkage to key government and private sector funds.
- Develop quality improvement strategies for OVC Program and Data generated.
- Monitor the work of OVC community care givers to ensure that appropriate children are enrolled in the program, and are receiving services as per Program goals and objectives.
- Ensure that all documentation is complete and in compliance with USAID rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate experience at senior level in the following areas: child protection, household economic strengthening, social protection, education, health and nutrition including HIV/AIDS care and support; quality improvement; social service systems strengthening, including social services workforce; M&E; and operations research.
- Exhibit experience in managing, coordinating and supervising a team working with local community organizations, families and communities.
- Demonstrate ability to work effectively with government representatives, Children’s Department in the respective Counties, local community organizations, donors and other stakeholders, particularly at the sub-national level.
